Never been to Chaffee County?

The recreation, restaurant, and shopping options in Chaffee are endless. It’s impossible to list all ideas, but here are a few of our favorite links to get you started…

Fly-Fishing: The Arkansas River boasts some of the very best fly-fishing in Colorado. Visit our friends Kayla and Andrew at https://www.upriverflyfishing.com/ for an unbelievable float trip!

Iconic Mount Princeton Hot Springs is just 4 miles away: https://mtprinceton.com/ Enjoy a dip in the hot springs, feel the stress melt away in the sauna, relax at the spa, slide down to the pool (seasonal), or a high-class meal with unbelievable views of the Chalk Cliffs…

Buena Vista is 10 minutes north: https://buenavistacolorado.org/events/

So many great restaurants, quaint shops, and parks: https://www.buenavistarec.com/parks/

Salida is 20 minutes south: https://salidachamber.org/salida-festivals/

The whitewater park is outstanding and surrounded by tons of restaurants and shops on F street.

Poncha Springs, also about 20 minutes south, is where to go if you like an afternoon libation. Elevation Brewery https://www.elevationbeerco.com/ is my favorite for post-activity (or just because) beers and Vino Salida https://www.vinosalida.com/ has some great wines!

Leadville is 45 minutes away and the birthplace of the 10th Mountain Division (WWII). See the rich history of one of Colorado's oldest, most flourishing mining towns.

Monarch Mountain is less than 45 minutes away, for both skiing https://skimonarch.com/

and mountain biking https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/monarch-crest-trail . If you need a shuttle for mountain biking, we can possibly make arrangements with a fee.

Rafting Brown’s Canyon: If you want to have the thrill of white water, rafting down “Browns” is for you! And even if you don’t, sit on our deck and watch your friends/family as they enter into the canyon right below! There are literally hundreds of outfitters, we recommend River Runners at  https://whitewater.net/rafting-buena-vista-colorado/ or Noah’s Ark at https://www.noahsark.com/ as both are next to each other in Nathrop and you can enjoy a meal and beverage at the River Runner’s bar and grille after your trip. If you have your own water crafts, we are located in between Fisherman’s Bridge and Heckla Junction. Ask Kirsten for other BV or Salida options, as well.

IV Hydration:  If you are not used to the altitude, it can certainly take it's toll on you--hydration is the key! If you need a boost for that big race, want recovery from overindulgence at a local wedding, or are looking to shake free from stress and fatigue, Anupa IV hydration services can tailor a treatment for you. Contact our friends Laura and Todd at  https://www.anupaiv.com/ to get you back on top and feeling great! Stay at K Bar S and get a 20% discount--you can go to their office or they can come to you at our rental house!

Geology: Interested in the local geology? Cindy and Dirk at The Rock Doc http://www.therockdoc.net/ can show you some local gems (*literally!).

There are numerous websites to help you access the world-class hiking and/or snowshoeing in the Continental Divide, mountain biking, XC skiing, snow mobile adventures, live music, and fests.

If you need more ideas, don't hesitate to ask. We'd be happy to help make your vacation unforgettable!
